The Backroads Podcast: Erin Marks, Ukrainian Egg Artist

When driving along Pierce County’s backroads one would never know that withing the homes, barns, sheds, and garages, artists have taken up residence. Some have lived here all their lives. Others have escaped the Twin Cities to focus on their art where it’s quieter and life moves at a slower pace. Potters, painters, quilters, and glass blowers can all be found here creating one-of-a-kind pieces for shops and galleries throughout the region.

One local artist is Erin Marks who designs one of kind Ukrainian eggs. It’s a century-old that doesn’t immediately come to mind when one thinks of art, yet the attention to detail and skill required makes it so. Listen in as Erin shares how she became an Ukrainian egg painter. Ukrainian egg loves and admirers can find Erin’s eggs at The Next Gallery and Art Studio in Maiden Rock, WI.
