Rush River Delta protects a floodplain forest on the alluvial plain at the mouth of the Rush River where it empties into the Mississippi River’s Lake Pepin. Plum Creek Woods features a steep-sided ravine with sandstone outcrops and a rich remnant of southern mesic forest on the north facing slopes. Sugar maple, American elm, basswood, red oak, red elm, and ironwood dominate the canopy, and butternut, a tree species of special concern is also present. The Pierce County Snowmobile Trail System consists of 222 miles of signed and groomed snowmobile trails. The trails exist on private property and encompass the entire county. Riders will experience a wide variety of landscapes as they travel throughout wooded forests and rolling hills. The trails cross numerous flowing rivers and creeks that provide breathtaking winter scenes and exciting new experiences around every corner.
